Are you one of those people that goes around talking about finding your true self? Knowing who you are in life? Following your passion? Be careful what you wish for!
Not finding is more convenient, comfortable, faster and financially smarter…
Here lays the root of all evil. What the heck are you expecting to happen once you find what you’re looking for? in this case, YOU. Do you expect everything to suddenly turn pink?
Most of the time expectations are the misleaders {is that a word?} to disappointment.
We’re fools setting ourselves up for ugly reality checks.
This is what iA from Japan proposed to Facebook as a concept for the redesign back in 2006. Maybe a great design and kick-ass usability but I can picture a guy wearing a suit saying "where the fuck are the ads?!"
Me? I love it.

How is your original content performing out there on the social web? How is the user interacting with it? or, what is the life of your posts?
This is part 2 of the series “Snapshot Of Your Social Media Presence“, a few days ago I published Part 1: The Hub in which we talked about different measurements for your blog or site.
Today we’ll look into content performance and as I said previously, probably my favorite one when it comes to metrics.
So let’s start with the “Why” it is important to track how your content performs:
In this case I wanted to do an exercise I totally stole from Kristi Hines over at Kikolani and her post “Google PageRank Update – Internal Pages and Top Content Analysis“. You will need to gather information from different sources to put a table like this together but then we’ll look at some available tools that do something similar for you.
Here is the criteria included in the table: PR = PageRank (you can install an extension on your browser that will give you the PR on any url), PV = PageViews, Pr = PostRank Engagement Points (we’ll talk about PostRank in a second), CM = Comments, RT = Retweets, FB = Facebook shares, DE = Delicious bookmarks and CT = Click-throughs (I’m using Bit.ly data for this).
Stop buying unnecessary things.
Toss half your stuff, learn contentedness.
Reduce half again.
List 4 essential things in your life,
stop doing non-essential things.
Do these essentials first each day, clear distractions
focus on each moment.
Let go of attachment to doing, having more.
Fall in love with less.
One of the most critical parts of the race is the first turn, yes, the first turn... that's why is so important to get ahead of the pack.
But what happens if you don't make it through the first turn? what if you crash or get a terrible position burried in the pack? your chances of winning the race at that point are not that good, believe me... what do you do now?
Damage Control
Salvage as many points as you can for the championship, pass as many riders as you can.
Just because you planned ahead, doesn't mean it'll be smooth
After spending good part of my sunday evening/night on planning all content for the week on SocialMouths.com, I was pretty confident we'll be having an awesome week, I was projecting an increase in traffic, planning some social media activities and thinking of creative ways of engaging with people. Everything is ready for a kick-ass week and then Monday morning, we crash on the first turn...
A New Strategy?
It depends, one of the reasons we did this ahead of time was because of our involvement in a pretty big project for a client, one that wil take some focus out of the blog. There is no backup plan, there is no time for it, just get back on the bike and salvage as many points as you can...
For now, I'll try to keep my smile on
I apologize for the inconvenience, our site is down due to the already famous NetworkSolutions issues. We're working on it...
